Habitat for Humanity Helps Planned Parenthood

I'm really sad that Habitat has decided to do this. It changes my views about how great their community service is.

*****************
It was reported over the weekend by LifeSiteNews that Habitat for Humanity has agreed to an arrangement which will allow Planned Parenthood to open an abortion clinic in Sarasota, Florida.

Jim Sedlak, vice-president of American Life League, said "[a]ccording to zoning regulations, Planned Parenthood cannot build their facility in the planned location without the presence of a multifamily liner building. "Unfortunately, Planned Parenthood found a creative solution to its problem and is using Habitat for Humanity to achieve its objective. Planned Parenthood plans to sell land to habitat for $10 so it can meet city requirements."

The plan was approved by the Sarasota City Commission on May 5, 2008, based on the agreement with Habitat which allowed Planned Parenthood to open their clinic. Planned Parenthood filed a letter with the city before the May 5th meeting that said "[w]e are excited to have Habitat be a part of the Planned Parenthood team."

Sedlak says that "Habitat for Humanity, which claims to be a Christian ministry, says that this was only a real estate transaction." However, Planned Parenthood could not open its abortion facility without Habitat's help."

“I don’t see how building a residence next to an organization that kills babies, pushes pornography and covers up for rapists gives a family dignity or safety,” said Sedlak. “We are calling on everyone to contact Habitat for Humanity and demand they break this agreement.”
